"If The Sea Would Ask Me" is the second full-length album by Canadian Rifles. Following on from his solo debut "Atoll" on A.V.A. in 2019 and a more recent run of EPs and collaborative releases, this new body of work sees the Porto-based musician's style shift, further contemplating minimalism as his core approach. Heavily anchored by expansive overtones and lavish slow-moving melodies, all five compositions carry a monolithic yet delicate presence. It is a work of masterfully exercised restraint and quasi-sacred beauty. Of trauma and broken promises. If the sea would ask me, would I follow?
